NATE Certification: More and More Homeowners Understand Its Value–Are You One of Them?

Do you know the value of using NATE-certified technicians for HVAC installation, maintenance and repair in your San Diego area home? According to a recent consumer survey, an increasing number of homeowners today are aware of the quality service and peace of mind that can be obtained by using technicians who have gone through NATE’s rigorous testing and certification programs. NATE stands for North American Technician Excellence, and is the leading non-profit certification program for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration technicians – the only program supported by the entire industry. Technicians who have earned NATE certification have proven their knowledge, skill and experience in HVAC system installation and service, ensuring their ability to perform top-quality work on your heating or cooling system.

Performed by Decision Analysts, Inc., a leading market research firm, the survey questioned homeowners who had bought HVAC equipment or had existing equipment serviced over the the past 24 months. Participants gave feedback on their level of awareness and their perceptions of NATE certification. The survey found that more than half of the homeowners questioned were aware of NATE certification, had used certified technicians, and gave those technicians high marks for quality and confidence.

Of the homeowners who had not used a NATE-certified technician, seven out of 10, after reviewing the knowledge, skills, training and education necessary to earn NATE certification, expressed interest in using NATE qualified technicians in the future. In fact, these consumers, when asked, said that they expected that hiring NATE-certified technicians might cost as much as 11 to 25 percent more than using uncertified technicians, a cost they stated they would be willing to pay for the peace of mind that comes with having their home HVAC system service done by a NATE-certified technician.
